What are the stages of herpes sores and blisters? You can find that the initial stages of herpes sores involve an early redness. The redness might be painful or itchy to the touch. Afterwards, there might be some swelling. The next stages of herpes sores are when these tiny red bumps become filled with fluid. There might be many blisters or just one single one. From there, the blisters might become wet ulcers, which is when the tops of these blisters come off from friction. The ulcers might feel raw to the touch and again, there might be one ulcer or a grouping of ulcers during these stages of herpes. The last step is the dry crust when the wet ulcer starts to heal, making a hard crust that allows new skin to grow underneath.

There are different stages of herpes infection. The primary stage of infection is when the blisters occur, as described above. The lymph nodes might also be swollen and it may be painful to pee. The next stages of herpes include the latent stage. During this stage, there will be no genital herpes symptoms, sores or blisters. The virus during the primary stage of the stages of herpes will rest in the nerves near your spinal cord until something triggers the virus to cause the symptoms to reappear again.
